Youth in the ASEAN region lack the business development skills needed to launch and effectively grow new businesses and ventures. They also have limited access to mentors and networks to help them on their journey to become successful entrepreneurs.

In collaboration with the US Embassy in Vietnam, Making Cents International designed and facilitated a workshop titled “YSEALI Generation: Power of Entrepreneurship” in Ho Chi Minh City, May 27–31, 2015. This regional exchange focused on entrepreneurial skills and mindsets needed to successfully start and grow businesses.

Sixty young entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs from the 10 ASEAN member states who attended benefited from concrete tools on how to develop a formal two-minute pitch about a business venture, based on the type of funding sought, i.e. venture capital, donations/grants, or angel investment/friends and family.  On the last day of the workshop, participants delivered their pitches to a mock panel of funders that included representatives from Microsoft and other private-sector companies.
